UOC prays for the repose of victims of Russian attack on April 18
A memorial litiya for those killed in the shelling of Kyiv was served at the academic church of the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary.
On April 19, 2026, at the academic church dedicated to St. John of Damascus at the Holy Protection Monastery in Holosiiv, a concelebrated memorial litiya was served for all those killed in the attack on Kyiv. This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary.
With the blessing of KDAiS rector Archbishop Sylvester of Bilohorodka, the memorial prayer was led by Bishop Panteleimon of Baturyn, vice-rector for academic affairs. The service was sung by the choir of students of the Kyiv Theological Schools under the direction of Archimandrite Leontiy (Tupkalo).
The tragedy occurred the previous day, on April 18, 2026, at around 5:00 p.m. in the Holosiiv district of the capital. As a result of the shelling, six people were killed and at least 14 were injured. The Kyiv Theological Schools expressed their deep condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that shelling in Dnipro had destroyed the UOC Orthodox culture center Lestvytsia.
