Patriarch of Georgia urges Trump to defend traditional Christian values
In his congratulatory letter to the 47th President of the United States, the head of the Georgian Orthodox Church stressed the importance of Christian foundations and noted the high expectations of the global community.
Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Ilia II, sent a congratulatory letter to the newly elected 47th President of the United States, Donald Trump, reports 1tv.
In his message, the head of the Georgian Orthodox Church emphasized the importance of preserving traditional Christian values and striving for peace, highlighting the high expectations not only of the American people but also of the global community.
"Your commitment to defending traditional values based on Christian consciousness and your efforts to achieve peace on earth are especially important," the letter reads.
The Patriarch also quoted Psalm 40:5: “Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust,” and prayed for blessings for the new U.S. President, his family, and his administration.
It will be recalled that during his inauguration, Trump stated: “We will not forget our God.”
