In Sumy, Sts. Peter and Paul's Church of UOC damaged by Russian strike
During the shelling of Sumy, the blast wave blew out the windows of the ancient UOC church.
On September 23, 2026, as a result of an airstrike with aviation bombs on the city of Sumy, the ancient Sts. Peter and Paul's Chucrh of the UOC, located at the Central City Cemetery, was damaged, reports the Sumy Eparchy.
The blast wave damaged the windows of the church building, which is an architectural monument and an important historical shrine of the city. This is not the first time the ancient church has sustained damage as a result of military action.
After the explosion, church ministers promptly covered the damaged window openings with protective film to shield the interior of the church from rain, wind, and bad weather. Despite the danger, the church community continues to hold services in their church.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that a UOC church in the village of Vasylkivka was damaged again due to shelling.
