A procession with the relics of Avvakum of Cherkasy took place in the Cherkasy Diocese
At the Lebedyn St. Nicholas Convent of the Cherkasy Diocese, Metropolitan Anthony led the liturgy and a procession with the relics of Venerable Avvakum of Cherkasy.
On July 21, 2026, at the Lebedyn St. Nicholas Convent of the Cherkasy Diocese of the UOC, a liturgy and a procession with the relics of Venerable Confessor Avvakum of Cherkasy were celebrated, as reported by the diocesan press service.
The service on the feast of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God and the day of remembrance of the saint was led by the Administrator of Affairs of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Anthony. The relics of Venerable Avvakum of Cherkasy repose in the monastery.
The hierarch was co-served by Metropolitan Theodosius of Cherkasy and Kaniv, the vicar of the Cherkasy Diocese Bishop Anthony of Korsun-Shevchenkivsky, the clergy of the diocese, and guests in holy orders.
During the liturgy, abbesses of the women's monasteries of the Cherkasy Diocese, the sisters of the convent, and the faithful prayed in the church. The participants of the service offered prayers for peace in Ukraine and for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which is suffering from persecution.
After the service, the clergy and parishioners carried out a procession with the relics of Venerable Avvakum of Cherkasy around the grounds of the Lebedyn Monastery.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that thousands of UOC faithful took part in a procession to the Pokrova Convent in Marinivka.
