In Yahilnytsia, Catholics given ancient church for free use
In the Ternopil region, the authorities handed over the church to the RCC community.
Roman Catholic parish in the village of Yahilnytsia, Chortkiv district, Ternopil region, officially received the use of the ancient Church of the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary. As reported by the press service of Chortkiv DSA, the ceremony of signing the transfer acts took place on December 16, 2025.
The transfer act was conducted in the building of the local self-government body in the presence of representatives of the Roman Catholic Church community.
The building, erected in the 18th century, was previously used for cultural purposes. After the completion of the transfer and registration procedure, the community intends to carry out restoration work.
"The church is a monument of cultural heritage of local significance. Together with the head of the Yahilnytsia starosta district, Mykhailo Puliak, and a representative of the Roman Catholic parish, we inspected the religious structure and even delved into its historical origins," says the DSA message.
As reported by the UOJ, the UOC eparchy delivered 400 thousand UAH to Ternopil residents affected by the shelling.
