UOC monastery in Kniazhychi faces imminent takeover – lawyer
A UOC lawyer has reported a risk of the forcible eviction of the brethren of the Transfiguration Monastery on the morning of December 5.
In the village of Kniazhychi in the Brovary district of the Kyiv region, actions are planned for December 5, 2025, that, according to UOC lawyer Archpriest Mykyta Chekman, may lead to a forceful takeover of the Transfiguration Monastery of the Boryspil Eparchy. He announced this on his Telegram channel.
According to the cleric, a state enforcement officer of the Brovary Department of the State Enforcement Service has scheduled enforcement actions to evict the religious community at 8:00 a.m. – “in violation of current legislation,” without observing the legally required timeframes and with the involvement of police officers.
In addition, the lawyer writes that on December 4 a state registrar, without any legal grounds, changed the monastery’s registered address – and did so without any request from the religious community.
The UOC is asking for prayers for the brotherhood, which may face an attempt at forced eviction.
“May the Lord strengthen the brethren, grant them wisdom and peace, and may all unlawful actions be stopped according to the law,” he wrote.
As the UOJ reported earlier, two years ago the OCU received a lease for two buildings located on the territory of the UOC Transfiguration Monastery.
