Media: Brovary authorities hand over UOC monastery buildings in Kniazhychi to OCU
The OCU has received a lease for two buildings located on the grounds of the UOC Transfiguration Monastery in the village of Kniazhychi, Kyiv region.
The Brovary City Council has transferred two premises on the territory of the UOC Transfiguration Monastery in Kniazhychi for the use of the OCU. Brovarymedia reported this on its Facebook page.
According to the outlet, the incident became known only after the OCU appealed to the Brovary City Council with a request for a discount on the rent of the monastery buildings.
Journalists noted that representatives of the OCU requested a 90% discount on the rent until the end of martial law. According to their information, the deputies of the Brovary City Council supported the OCU: “The deputies of the municipal commission of the City Council supported the granting of a 90% discount, meaning that the Kyiv Diocese of the OCU will pay about 2,500 UAH per month for the rent of the buildings.”
According to the UOJ, monastic cells are located in one of the buildings, while services were held in the other.
In the comments under the Brovarymedia publication, representatives of the monastery stated that “the Brovary City Council is exceeding its authority and violating the legal rights of Ukrainians, since the Transfiguration Monastery of Kniazhychi has, from its foundation, possessed the proper state legal documents for the land and all the structures.”
As the UOJ reported earlier, in September 2022 the Brovary authorities transferred the UOC Transfiguration Monastery in Kniazhychi to the OCU.
