In Vendychany, UOC parish defend their church from being transferred to OCU
The religious community of the UOC predicts that attempts to seize their church will be resumed.
In Vendychany, a village in the Mohyliv-Podilsky district of the Vinnytsia region, parishioners of the UOC have successfully prevented their church, the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, from being transferred to the OCU (Orthodox Church of Ukraine), according to the diocese's press service.
The congregation held a meeting and reiterated their commitment to remain under the omophorion of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine.
The first attempt to transfer the church to the OCU jurisdiction occurred on April 27, Lazarus Saturday. At that time, the parish priest and dean of the Vendychany church district, Archpriest Anatoly Kyrychuk, gathered the parishioners, and the community reaffirmed their loyalty to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
The congregation of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos Church in Vendychany is requesting special prayers, as they anticipate that attempts to seize the church will continue due to the actions of OCU supporters.
As reported earlier by the UOJ, in Perkovychi, the parish community remained with the UOC, preventing outsiders from voting.
