Monk killed in drone strikes on UOC monastery of Kherson Eparchy
As a result of a series of Russian drone attacks on St. Gregory's Monastery in the village of Chervonyi Mayak of the Novovorontsovsk Vicariate of the Kherson Eparchy, and a subsequent strike on the evacuating residents, the oldest resident of the monastery was killed and four more were injured, reports the Kherson Eparchy.
The first UAV attack struck directly on the territory of St. Gregory's Monastery. As a result of these strikes, the oldest resident of the monastery, monk Moses, was seriously injured and later died.
That same day, the monks, having waited for a period of calm and realizing that the repeated shelling made it impossible for them to remain at the monastery any longer, set out on foot for a neighboring village. Along the way, the group of monks being evacuated was attacked again by a drone. As a result of the strike, four more members of the monastery community sustained injuries of varying severity.
Metropolitan John of Kherson and Tavria expressed sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased and calls on the faithful to offer their prayers for the recovery of Archimandrite Kuksha and novices Oleksandr, Oleh, and Oleksandr.
As the UOJ reported, the rector's sister was killed in a strike on St. Volodymyr's Church of the UOC in Vilniansk.
