Grzegorz Braun called the monument to UPA soldiers an insult to the memory of the victims of the genocide of Poles.

Polish MEP Grzegorz Braun published a video in which he and his associates destroy a stone obelisk with a heavy tool at the burial site of UPA fighters near the village of Lisky.

The incident occurred in the Białystok tract on the territory of the Dołhobyczów commune in Hrubieszów County. In the released footage, the politician and those accompanying him are striking the memorial, cracking and damaging the granite structure.

The memorial marker is located above the grave of 41 UPA fighters who died in February 1946 in a battle with an NKVD unit. In 2019, a granite stone was installed at the burial site with an engraved coat of arms of Ukraine and a list of the names of the deceased.

"The obelisk, which insults the memory of the victims of the Ukrainian genocide of Poles, must be immediately dismantled with professional tools after the crime of Banderism has been documented!" Grzegorz Braun wrote in a comment.

Previously, this obelisk had already been damaged: a few weeks earlier, unknown persons painted over it and cut out the decorative arch.

As the UOJ reported, the head of the UGCC held a memorial service at the reburial site of Konovalets.
