In Pereiaslav, museum staff transferred access to the seized UOC cathedral to the OCU
OCU representatives were granted access to the seized church strictly according to a schedule.
The management of the Pereiaslav nature reserve has signed an agreement to transfer St. Michael's Cathedral — which officials and police forcibly seized from the monks and faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church — for use by representatives of the OCU.
The acting director of the state nature reserve, Maryna Navalna, and OCU "bishop" Oleksandr Drabynko concluded an agreement on free access to the church for the holding of "worship services." Under the agreement, OCU events in the cathedral will be held during designated hours according to a pre-approved schedule. The signing of the document took place on August 24, 2026.
The agreement was preceded by the forcible seizure of the ancient UOC monastery. Museum staff and court enforcement officers, supported by special forces, stormed the monastery on May 11, 2026, using physical force against the faithful. Afterwards, nature reserve employees broke the locks and conducted an inventory of the monastery's property, gaining entry even into the monks' personal cells.
As the UOJ reported, the UOC won the appeal in the case of the Transfiguration Monastery in Kniažyči.
