A court hearing in the Upper Lavra case will take place in Kyiv on August 26.

An appeal has appeared on social media urging Kyiv residents to support the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra by attending the court hearing in person on August 26, 2026. The Fortetsia Lavra Telegram channel recalled the recently concluded procession to the Pochaiv Lavra and called on believers to bear witness to their faith now in Kyiv.

The authors of the appeal noted that many believers had watched footage of the procession to the Pochaiv Lavra with admiration but, for various reasons, were unable to take part. At the same time, the post says, they can also bear witness to their faith in the capital – precisely now, as the fate of the Kyiv Lavra is being decided. The statement emphasizes that a court hearing in the monastery case will take place in Kyiv on August 26 and that its outcome could determine the Lavra’s future.

The organizers of the appeal called on believers from Kyiv and the surrounding region to come in person to the courthouse on the day of the hearing.

As the UOJ reported, the hearing in the Upper Lavra case is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at the Northern Commercial Court of Appeal, located at 1-A Sholudenka Street in Kyiv. The monastery’s lawyer warned of possible provocations by opponents of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church on the day of the hearing. Believers are being asked to remain calm, not respond to provocative actions, and avoid confrontations with opponents.
