Christians in Sudan are increasingly subjected to violence due to the lawlessness of military groups.

Human rights organization Open Doors has reported mass violence against Christians in Sudan. The monitoring group has documented the killings of church leaders, the abduction of dozens of believers, and the seizure of churches by paramilitary formations in South Kordofan state, reports Christian Today.

According to the human rights activists' report, radical militants in the Nuba Mountains killed two Christian leaders and six civilians. The organization confirmed the death of Anglican pastor Adel Idris Jangul, who was shot by extremists in the Heiban district.

Open Doors revealed details of a radical attack on an Anglican theological seminary in the Nuba Mountains. Militants stormed the institution during a church service and took dozens of parishioners hostage. To date, the extremists have released thirty-two people, while the fate of the remaining believers remains unknown.

Human rights activists pointed to the systematic destruction of Christian infrastructure in the country. Military groups regularly bomb church buildings and seize them for military purposes. In light of the critical situation, Open Doors placed Sudan in fourth place on its annual list of countries with the highest levels of Christian persecution.

As the UOJ reported, a Roman Catholic Church priest was killed in Sudan for exposing the theft of medicines intended for the poor.
