Three hierarchs led the Liturgy on the feast day of Mhar Monastery
The clergy and faithful of the Poltava Diocese performed a religious procession to the burial site of the Mhar holy martyrs-monastics.
Three hierarchs of the UOC celebrated the festive Liturgy at the Transfiguration Mhar Monastery. The solemn service was led by Metropolitan Filipp of Poltava and Myrhorod on the day of commemoration of the Mhar venerable martyrs, August 6, 2026. This was reported by the Poltava Diocese.
Metropolitan Filipp was co-served by Metropolitan Nikodem of Zhytomyr and Novograd-Volynsky and Bishop Arkadiy of Hostomel. For the feast day of the monastery, the secretary of the Poltava Diocese, Archpriest Mykhailo Voloshchuk, the monastery's dean Archimandrite Herman, the dean of the Poltava city deanery Archpriest Ioann Kornienko, the dean of the Poltava district deanery Archpriest Oleksandr Antoniuk, the deans of the diocesan deaneries, the monastery's brethren in holy orders, and the clergy of the diocese also served.
The abbess of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross Monastery, Abbess Mastridia, together with the sisters, prayed at the festive service. The choral singing was performed by the hierarchical choir, directed by Protodeacon Georgiy Linda. After the communion verse, Metropolitan Nikodem of Zhytomyr addressed the gathered faithful with a sermon.
Immediately after the conclusion of the Liturgy, the faithful performed a religious procession to the Annunciation Skete. At the burial site of the holy venerable martyrs of Mhar, the clergy served a moleben, after which Bishop Arkadiy sprinkled the faithful with holy water.
