MP called the strike on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra "beneficial"
The deputy stated that the strike on the monastery became a useful tool for combating the "routinization" of the war, which Ukraine should take advantage of.
People's deputy Andriy Osadchuk stated that the strike on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra was a "beneficial" event for attracting the attention of Western countries to Ukraine.
The parliamentarian from the "Holos" faction acknowledged that "something extraordinary" must happen to maintain international interest in Ukrainian events. According to Osadchuk, the strike on the monastery proved to be a useful tool for combating the "routinization" of the news agenda.
"Well, the strike on the Lavra is actually quite beneficial in this regard, because, thank God, no one was killed, no one was hurt. It was a drone, not a missile, as far as I can see, only the roof was damaged. So these are moderate losses, but the attention that was once again drawn to Ukraine was significant. And, of course, we must take advantage of this," the deputy stated.
In Osadchuk's opinion, the reaction to the strike on the Ukrainian shrine was insufficient: "The Dormition Cathedral of the Lavra is an absolutely iconic place. But on the other hand, it is simply yet another crime of the Russian Federation, to which the reaction, as with a great number of other crimes, was, let us say, very moderate."
At the same time, the MP noted that the strike on the Lavra was "strange" for him personally, as it destroyed his personal "concept of security," according to which the territory of the Lavra was considered one of the most protected places in Kyiv.
As the Union of Orthodox Journalists reported, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs accused UNESCO of weakness over its statement on the Lavra.
