A cleric of the OCU has joined the UOC-KP
UOC-KP head Nikodim received a cleric who accused the OCU of financial fraud.
On June 11, 2026, UOC-KP head Nikodim granted a petition and officially accepted former OCU cleric Alexander Galas into his organization. This was announced by "patriarch" Nikodim on his Facebook page.
The cleric came under the direct authority of the head of the Kyiv Patriarchate after he publicly announced his break with the OCU in April 2026. In his statement addressed to Epifaniy Dumenko, the cleric emphasized that he categorically disagreed with the course and methods of managing the organization, and also noted "biased and discourteous treatment" from the top leadership of the structure.
This decision was preceded by a history of prolonged persecution of the cleric within the OCU. The conflict began in 2023 in Ichnia, where the cleric discovered instances of misuse of donations collected for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. After transferring to the Zhytomyr diocese, the priest again encountered abuses: in the village of Lypky, he uncovered the absence of financial reporting on funds that the Obolon plant had allocated for the construction of a new church.
Alexander's attempts to achieve transparency in the accounting resulted in his immediate removal from the payroll and forced mobilization, which he regarded as an attempt at physical elimination. The priest was sent to the 95th Air Assault Brigade, where during his service he sustained a serious chest injury and was hospitalized.
He is currently continuing treatment, already under the care of the UOC-KP. "We pray for the speedy recovery of Fr. Alexander and his swift return to a full priestly life," the head of the Kyiv Patriarchate concluded.
As SPZh reported, a well-known OCU cleric left the structure due to disagreement with Dumenko's course.
