NSDC center condemns ROC Patriarch's visit to wounded metropolitan
The Center for Countering Disinformation of Ukraine's NSDC criticized the visit of Patriarch Kirill of Moscow to the wounded Metropolitan Mitrofan of Horlivka and Sloviansk. The agency described the meeting of the ROC head with the hierarch as an example of using religious context and military events to promote the Kremlin's political agenda.
"The visit of Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Kirill to the wounded Metropolitan of Horlivka and Sloviansk is a classic example of how the ROC and its head use religious context and military events to promote the Kremlin's political and ideological narratives," the state agency stated.
The NSDC-affiliated structure believes that such visits clearly reflect the integration of the ROC into Russia's state propaganda system, adding that "the current ROC has nothing to do with the Christian faith or spirituality."
As the UOJ reported, Metropolitan Mitrofan was wounded after a drone strike on a cathedral in Horlivka.
