House Speaker presented with Ukrainian “icon” painted on HIMARS lid
The “icon,” painted on the lid of a HIMARS system, depicts Jesus as the Good Shepherd.
U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson was presented with an “icon” by Ukrainian artist Olena Hrozovska, depicting Jesus as the Good Shepherd. The artist herself reported this.
According to Hrozovska, “Johnson is a complex figure for Ukraine, as he was previously skeptical about supporting us.” “However, in politics one must be able to seek allies even where it seems extremely difficult. That is why I sincerely welcome such efforts, because from the rhetoric of 2022 Johnson has moved toward initiating critically important legislation on aid and the write-off of part of our debt,” the artist said.
The meeting with Johnson and the presentation of the gift were organized by the Ukrainian lobbying organization in the United States, Razom for Ukraine.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that Sybiha had presented the U.S. Secretary of State with an icon painted on an ammunition crate.
