Zelensky gifts the Pope with an “icon” depicting void instead of Baby Jesus
During a meeting with the Pope, Zelensky handed him an “icon” of the Mother of God with a void in the place where the Savior should have been.
On May 13, 2023, during a meeting with the Pope, Volodymyr Zelensky presented the pontiff with an “icon” of the Mother of God with a black void instead of the Infant Jesus. The image is called “Loss of 2022-58”, its author is Ukrainian artist Oleksiy Revika, reports the Ukrayina Moloda resource. Despite the fact that journalists call Revika's work a "painting", it is very reminiscent of a parody of the Iberian Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos.
Revika himself claims on his Facebook page that “this is a work about the loss of Ukrainian children in the aggressive war unleashed by Russia against Ukraine. Glory to Ukraine!".
Recall that after meeting with the Pope, Zelensky said that Ukraine does not need mediators for negotiations.
