Sviatohirsk Lavra receives humanitarian aid from Bukovyna ahead of Easter
About 8 tons of humanitarian cargo were delivered by believers of the Chernivtsi Eparchy to the Sviatohirsk Monastery.
About 8 tons of humanitarian aid collected by volunteers from the Chernivtsi-Bukovynian Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church were delivered to the Sviatohirsk Lavra on the eve of Easter. The cargo arrived on April 7, 2026, on Holy Tuesday and the Feast of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos. This is reported by the official website of the monastery.
The collection of aid took place over the course of a week with the blessing of Metropolitan Meletius of Chernivtsi and Bukovyna. The humanitarian cargo was delivered by two vehicles and included food products necessary for Easter preparation, including eggs, dairy products, vegetables, fruits, fish, as well as ingredients for baking Easter bread. In addition, flowers were delivered to the Lavra for decorating the Dormition Cathedral, household chemicals and other necessary items for the brethren, nuns of the sketes, and refugees staying at the monastery.
Separately, volunteers sent about a ton of plastic sheeting used as a substitute for glass in monastery buildings damaged by shelling. It was delivered to Sviatohirsk the next day via Slovyansk. Aid? icluding seed potatoes, was also brought for the Lavra's sketes and other monasteries of the region.
The organizer of the collection, Oksana (Maria) Tsiuga, noted that donations came from all over Ukraine and abroad. "We thank all caring Christians... today the monastery is located in a gray zone, without outside help it is practically impossible to survive here," she emphasized, adding that thanks to collective support, they managed to prepare the monastery for the Feast of Easter.
The volunteers called on everyone willing to support future humanitarian trips.
