A Catholic diocese in the United States will “by mistake” continue in 2026 to sponsor an adoption organization that supports LGBT ideology.
In 2026, the Catholic Diocese of Clifton in the U.S. will continue to sponsor an adoption agency that promotes gender ideology. This was reported by the Catholic Herald.
The CCS Adoption organization was formed on the basis of a former adoption agency of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Clifton. However, the organization’s leadership severed ties with the Catholic Church after adopting policies related to gender ideology.
Representatives of the agency note that the organization “promotes and supports adoption by same sex couples and others identifying as LGBTQ+,” and that a “significant proportion of its adopters come from the LGBTQ+ community.”
The organization’s most recent annual report states that “donations from the Clifton Catholic Diocese contribute significantly to the organization’s community fundraising income.”
The Bishop of Clifton, Bosco MacDonald, said that the inclusion of CCS Adoption on the fundraising list for 2026 “was an oversight" and "will be reviewed by the diocesan trustees as we prepare the schedule of collections for next year."
The Bishop of Clifton emphasized that “Catholic teaching about marriage and family life begins with the dignity of every human person, and therefore with the conviction that every child is precious, and that families should be supported with prayer, encouragement, and practical care.”
“The Church holds, with confidence and compassion, that marriage is a faithful, lifelong covenant between a man and a woman, open to the gift of new life,” the Catholic representative added.
