Volyn priests deliver humanitarian aid to frontline cities
The trip covered several frontline cities at once, where priests delivered tons of collected aid and supported people in difficult conditions.
This week, Volyn priests delivered several tons of humanitarian aid to frontline cities in Eastern Ukraine. This was reported on the official website of the Volyn Eparchy of the UOC.
The humanitarian trip to the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia directions was made by the rector of St. Andrew's Church in the village of Strumivka, Archpriest Stepan Yarema, the head of the Youth Department, Archimandrite Illya (Vyshnevskyi), the VDS vice-rector for educational work, Archimandrite Kyrylo (Vydrych), and the rector of the Church of the Great Martyr Demetrius of Thessaloniki in the village of Vyshneve, Priest Pavlo Chamakhud. They brought aid to the defenders and the civilian population of the frontline territories.
The collection of humanitarian aid took place in the eparchy's churches with the blessing of Metropolitan Nafanail of Volyn and Lutsk. Believers donated food, hygiene products, clothing, footwear, household items, and other necessary things. Tons of collected aid were delivered by the clergy to Izyum, Kramatorsk, Lozova, Pavlohrad, Pokrovske, and Zaporizhzhia.
About two tons of food were left by the priests at the Holy Dormition Church in Kramatorsk, where the local rector regularly helps people affected by the war. During the trip, the clergy also met with defenders - parishioners, relatives, and acquaintances - delivered parcels from their families and supported them with prayer.
The meeting with the medevac brigade of the First Volunteer Mobile Hospital named after Mykola Pirogov was especially warm. Archpriest Stepan Yarema noted that the clergy strive to bring support and human warmth to the fighters, understanding that their help is only a small part of the vast needs of the front. The military presented the priests with a flag as a token of gratitude.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that in Kyiv, the UOC held a charitable meal for those in need.
