Former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko stated that UOC communities that refuse to re-register under the new law should be expelled from the country.

Speaking after a prayer service in a Greek Catholic cathedral in Kyiv, Poroshenko declared that UOC communities unwilling to re-register in accordance with recently adopted legislation should be deported from Ukraine.

Commenting on Ukraine’s aspirations toward European integration, Poroshenko expressed a desire that “no one interferes with us – not even the spawn of hell and the devil, the Russian Orthodox Church.”

He called on the authorities to “uphold the laws” on forced renaming of the UOC – laws that were originally introduced under his presidency.

“The law we passed says that anyone who does not re-register, who does not prove their unity with Ukraine, should be sent off to Rostov or Moscow. Let them sit there and poison each other,” Poroshenko said.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that Poroshenko has described “Army–Faith–Language” as the Ukrainian people’s “earthly trinity.”
