The authorities in Cherkasy have transferred land beneath three UOC churches to non-existent OCU communities. One of the churches has already been seized.

At the 80th extraordinary session of the Cherkasy City Council, deputies voted to hand over land plots under three churches of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) to three fake religious organizations affiliated with the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU).

The land beneath the following UOC churches was given to the OCU:

  • The parish of St. Andrew the First-Called, Cherkasy Eparchy of the UOC
  • The parish of the Nativity of Christ, Cherkasy Eparchy of the UOC
  • The parish of St. Sophronius, Cherkasy Eparchy of the UOC

"At present, there is not a single patch of land in our city that remains under the control of a religious organization of the Moscow Patriarchate. Today, our citizens in every district of the city have the opportunity to pray in Ukrainian in a Ukrainian Church," commented Cherkasy City Council Secretary Yurii Trenkin.

It will be reminded that the Church of St. Andrew the First-Called was previously seized by police with the participation of Mayor Bondarenko and City Council Secretary Trenkin.
