Patriarch Daniel wished Archbishop John to continue the work of the late Primate of the Albanian Church, Anastasios.

On March 16, 2024, Bulgarian Patriarch Daniel held a telephone conversation with the newly elected Albanian Archbishop John, writes the press service of the Bulgarian Church.

“Patriarch Daniel congratulated his brother and wished him to continue the God-pleasing, fruitful and reviving work of his ever-memorable predecessor, the blessedly deceased Archbishop Anastasios, who restored the Albanian Church and became a great missionary of our time,” the statement said.

The new Albanian Archbishop expressed deep gratitude to the Bulgarian Patriarch for his call and expressed hope that the excellent relations between the two sister Churches will continue in the future.

Earlier, the Union of Orthodox Journalists wrote that Metropolitan Joan of Korça became the new Primate of the Albanian Church.
