The banditry of the OCU during the seizure of churches has long been striking in its senselessness.
A new outrageous seizure of a UOC church, this time in Odessa. The magnificent Church of Alexander Nevsky, built in 1898 and restored after Soviet-era devastation through the efforts of the diocese and parishioners. The stunning frescoes by Alexander Rudy, one of the world's finest iconographers, the carved iconostasis by Vinnytsia craftsmen, stained glass windows, the new chapel of Matrona of Moscow — all of this has been seized by "real parishioners" from among local militants. The scheme is well-worn: a gathering of unknown individuals "in the bushes," a covert re-registration with the "right" officials — and a lightning-fast forcible operation during which titushky beat the secretary of the Odessa Diocese of the UOC.
As is usual in such cases, so-called "compromising material" found in the seized church is immediately posted on social media: the breathtakingly beautiful frescoes depicting the Royal Passion-Bearers, Andrei Bogolyubsky, Prince Daniil of Moscow, Dmitry Donskoy, Xenia of Petersburg, and others.
"Not a single one of ours," declared the OCU — despite the fact that the footage also shows icons of Nicholas the Wonderworker, Princess Olga, Prince Vladimir, and Saint Luke the Confessor.
The seizors announced that they would rename the church in honor of Agapitus of the Caves.
Which raises the question — is he "yours," then? Would Venerable Agapitus approve of everything you are doing? How do you intend to pray to him?
The Apostle Paul says that the members of the Church are part of the Body of Christ. That "he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with the Lord," while "he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her."
