After a meeting on relations with Poland, the President of Ukraine announced the decision to open archival documents on the Volyn massacre and to expand exhumation works.

President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine will open the archives of the Security Service of Ukraine and the Foreign Intelligence Service concerning the tragic events of the 20th century in Volyn. He announced this following a meeting dedicated to Ukrainian-Polish relations.

According to Zelensky, the priority of Ukraine's policy toward Poland remains the development of good-neighborly relations between the two countries, which are «built on respect.»

He said that during the meeting, several areas of further cooperation with Poland were identified. In particular, a decision was made to open archival materials related to the Volyn massacre.

«All archives of the Security Service of Ukraine and the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine regarding the tragic events of the 20th century in Volyn will be opened,» the president stated.

In addition, Zelensky announced that Ukraine will provide an additional number of permits for search and exhumation works. According to him, such works will be carried out jointly with the Polish side.

As the UOJ reported, an amendment to the report on Ukraine's progress toward EU membership has been registered in the European Parliament, proposing to link the further advancement of accession negotiations with the issue of the Volyn tragedy.
