Patriarch Porfirije donates blood and encourages faithful to become donors
The Primate of the Serbian Church called on believers to support voluntary blood donation campaigns and help those in need.
Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia took part in a voluntary blood donation drive in Belgrade, the UOJ in Serbia reports.
On the feast of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, immediately after the festive Divine Liturgy, the Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church donated blood at the parish hall of the Church of St. Sava, setting a personal example of support for those in need and encouraging the faithful to practice works of mercy.
The initiative was organized by the Blood Transfusion Institute of Serbia in cooperation with the Serbian Orthodox Church. Its primary goal was to promote voluntary blood donation and provide assistance to patients requiring blood transfusions.
While participating in the campaign, Patriarch Porfirije emphasized the importance of compassion and Christian solidarity. He urged people to respond actively to such appeals and to help their neighbors in whatever way they can.
The Serbian Patriarch has regularly participated in blood donation drives for many years. Through his personal example, he seeks to highlight the importance of this act of charity and service to others.
As the UOJ previously reported, the Serbian Church condemned a court ruling against Patriarch Porfirije in Slovenia.
