Zelensky supported LGBT members in Ukraine
The President stated that he considers himself and LGBT members to be the same people.
Volodymyr Zelensky declared his support for the rights of Ukraine's LGBT community members. He said this during the presentation of the "Tysiachovesna" initiative.
The occasion for this statement was a question from the head of the organization "Ukrainian LGBT Military for Equal Rights" Oleksandr Diomenko. At the meeting with the president, he asked whether Ukraine needs cultural products to normalize LGBT and increase tolerance among the population.
"I believe that we need to speak openly about everything with society. And this is absolutely normal. We are all here together. We are defending the state. We are the same, and we have the same rights – absolutely, regardless of any prejudices of people from the 15th century. We are modern people," Zelensky declared. He called the veteran an "absolutely heroic personality" and praised him for the open conversation.
Earlier, the Union of Orthodox Journalists wrote that while the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations is against LGBT, they will make compromises for the sake of European integration.
