Employees of Dutch Embassy in Kyiv raise LGBT flag above the building
Employees of the Dutch Embassy in Kyiv hung an LGBT flag over the mission building and stated that they are fighting homophobia.
On May 17, 2026, employees of the Embassy of the Netherlands in Kyiv, led by Ambassador Alle Dorhout, raised the LGBT flag above the diplomatic mission as part of the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia (IDAHOBIT). This was reported on the Facebook page of NLinUA.
Ambassador Alle Dorhout stated that this is an annual tradition aimed at “combating discrimination and homophobia,” which she said “is especially relevant now, including in connection with the discussion in parliament of the Civil Code bill.”
The embassy also spoke about the need for Ukraine to recognize same-sex marriages and announced its intention to take part in the annual gay pride parade in Kyiv.
As previously reported by the UOJ, an LGBT march, “Kharkiv Pride,” was held in Kharkiv. The promotion of the LGBT agenda by Western diplomatic missions is part of a broader trend observed in a number of Eastern European countries in recent years.
