Art project aiming “deeper immersion in the experience of war” to open at Lavra
Bullet-pierced body armor will be displayed on the grounds of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra as part of an art exhibition.
On April 17, 2026, the National Reserve “Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra” will host the opening of the art project "Letters from the Front." According to Interfax-Ukraine, the exhibition brings together contemporary art and real-life evidence from the battlefield.
On the first tier of the Great Lavra Bell Tower, organizers will present works by artists Vladyslav Habda and Oksana Brenzovych.
Art historian Mykhailo Syrokhman said the project reflects a reality that begins to take on the qualities of painting, where the boundary between life and death becomes a defining element of visual language.
The central exhibits will be tangible traces of war – damaged body armor and elements of personal protective gear – intended to create a sense of presence and a deeper immersion in the experience of war.
In addition, the 2nd Assault Battalion of the 5th Separate Kyiv Assault Brigade and a UAV command unit have provided examples of modern military equipment for display.
The project was carried out in cooperation with the Cultural Forces platform and with the support of the Trakai History Museum. The exhibition is curated by Alvyga Zmejevskiene.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that the reserve acknowledged that the “revival of monasticism” at the Lavra took place under the UOC.
