The hierarchs of the two Churches emphasized the importance of preserving the status quo of the holy sites in the context of the recent war.

On April 16, 2026, on Thursday of Bright Week, Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem visited the Armenian Patriarchate in Jerusalem, reports the press service of the Jerusalem Patriarchate. The head of the Jerusalem Orthodox Church, leading a delegation of the Brotherhood of the Holy Sepulchre, congratulated the Armenian community on the feast of Pascha.

During the visit, Patriarch Theophilos and Nurhan Manukyan exchanged welcoming speeches. The primates emphasized the need for close cooperation to overcome difficulties that arise in protecting the pilgrimage status and ensuring the security of Christian presence in the region.

The hierarchs noted that believers need the strength of the Risen Christ, especially during a period of severe war. According to the heads of the Churches, active hostilities have ceased thanks to a ceasefire, for the success of which all Christian communities of the city are now praying.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that Patriarch Daniel supported the Jerusalem Church in connection with shelling in Israel.
