Chernivtsi Eparchy shows how persecuted UOC parishes celebrate Easter
Orthodox Bukovynians conducted Easter services outside their churches – in homes and adapted premises.
Persecuted parishes of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Bukovyna celebrated Easter in adapted premises, as they were forced to hold worship outside their churches. Despite the trials, the Orthodox faithful gathered for common prayer to glorify the Risen Christ. Videos from the festive services were published on the Facebook page of the Chernivtsi-Bukovyna Eparchy believers.
In the village of Kerstentsi, the Lord's Transfiguration community conducted the Easter service for the first time in a newly built refectory. By the feast, the parishioners had managed to complete construction of the premises where the first Liturgy took place. The believers, having overcome difficulties, gathered together, feeling spiritual joy and God's support.
In the village of Stavchany, the religious community of the Synaxis of Archangel Michael celebrated Easter outside their church – in a house specially equipped for prayer. The service was led by the rector, Archpriest Vyacheslav Hogol. The parishioners emphasized that even outside the walls of their native shrine, they preserved the main thing – unity, faith and love in Christ.
In Stari Broskivtsi, the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul community also celebrated Easter outside their church. The service was conducted in premises arranged by the believers themselves. The rector, Archpriest Vitaly Bilyk, led the festive service, sharing with his flock both the sorrow of losing the church and the joy of Christ's Resurrection.
In the village of Tovtry, believers gathered in an adapted premises for common prayer. Despite the absence of church decoration, the parishioners testify to a deep experience of Easter joy and a special sense of God's closeness.
Believers note that despite being deprived of churches and difficult circumstances, the persecuted parishes of the UOC in Bukovyna celebrated Easter in prayer and spiritual joy, preserving faithfulness to the Church and unity in Christ.
As the UOJ reported, persecuted UOC communities celebrated the Lord's Entry into Jerusalem.
