Authorities in the Moscow region town of Istra have canceled the annual citywide Trinity procession due to the threat of Ukrainian drone attacks.

Officials in Istra, located about 40 kilometers (25 miles) from Moscow, announced that the cross procession scheduled for Pentecost (Holy Trinity Sunday) would not take place because of security concerns.

“The decision was forced due to the need to ensure people’s safety while they are outdoors,” the local administration said on its Telegram channel.

The procession had been planned for May 31 following the Divine Liturgy, with participants expected to walk from the Myrrh-Bearing Women Church in Istra to Trinity Church in the village of Troitskoye.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that a UOC church in Ulanove, Sumy region, was destroyed as a result of shelling.
