UOC priests hold funeral service for victims of missile strike on Dnipro

In the village of Lychkove, clergy and residents said farewell to two young men killed in a Russian strike on Dnipro.

On May 28, 2026, a funeral service was held in the village of Lychkove, in the Magdalynivka Deanery of the Kamianske Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, for Dmytro Samoilenko and Dionisiy Palek, who were killed in a Russian strike on Dnipro. The Kamianske Eparchy’s press service reported this.

The service at the Church of the Intercession in Lychkove was led by the parish rector, Archpriest Mykhailo Ryzhkov.

According to the report, the two friends, who worked together, were killed on May 20 during a Russian missile attack on the city of Dnipro. Dmytro Samoilenko, born in 2007, was a resident of the village of Velyka Kozyrshchyna, while Dionisiy Palek, born in 2006, was from Lychkove.

Relatives, loved ones, villagers, and faithful of the Kamianske Eparchy came to bid farewell to the victims. The eparchy expressed sincere condolences to their families and called for prayers for the repose of the newly departed.

“The clergy and faithful of the Kamianske Eparchy, the parish community, and all residents of the village are deeply grieving and express their sincere condolences to the relatives and loved ones of the slain Dmytro and Dionisiy,” the statement said.

As the UOJ reported, a priest of the UOC’s Pokrovsk Vicariate was killed in Kostiantynivka.
