At St. George's Metochion of Horodok Convent, monastic tonsure performed
Five nuns took the lesser schema in the Rivne Eparchy of the UOC.
On March 27, 2026, after the all-night vigil on the eve of Saturday of the Praise of the Most Holy Theotokos, at St. George's Metochion of the Horodok St. Nicholas Convent of the UOC in Rivne, five nuns were tonsured into the lesser schema. This is reported by the press service of the Rivne Eparchy.
The rite of tonsure was led by Metropolitan Pimen of Rivne and Ostroh. Many faithful gathered in the church, becoming witnesses to this event.
The nuns Phaina, Ignatia, Ambrosia, Dionysia, and Mariam received new names in tonsure: Philothea, Hilaria, Iraida, Eliazara, and Marionila.
After the service, the hierarch addressed the newly tonsured sisters with inspirational words, noting that monasticism is a conscious response of a person to God's call.
"This is a special path on which the Lord leads a person gradually. And if you stand here today, it means He Himself has brought you and will continue to lead you," the metropolitan emphasized.
The bishop also called on the faithful to prayerfully support the newly tonsured nuns.
As the UOJ wrote, monastic tonsure was performed at the Olshanka Monastery.
