Metropolitan Pimen tonsured three sisters of the Protection convent into the lesser schema.

On March 12, 2026, at the Protection Convent in the settlement of Hoshcha, Rivne region, Metropolitan Pimen of Rivne and Ostroh performed the rite of monastic tonsure. This was reported by the press service of the UOC's Rivne Eparchy.

During the service, three nuns of the monastery were received into the lesser schema. In the tonsure, the sisters were given new names: Nun Ignatiya became Cheruvima, Nun Ioanna became Taisiya, and Nun Georgiya was tonsured with the name Iryna. Receiving a new name symbolizes a final renunciation of one’s former life and a complete dedication to the service of God.

After the rite, Metropolitan Pimen addressed the newly tonsured sisters with words of instruction. The archpastor wished them always to preserve purity of soul and to walk the path of monastic labor with zeal. He reminded them that monks are called to be a spiritual support for the whole world. “You are the salt of the earth,” the Metropolitan said, quoting the Gospel and urging the sisters to bear witness by their lives and deeds to their love for the Lord.

At the end of the service, clergy and faithful congratulated the new nuns, wishing them spiritual strength and God’s help in bearing the monastic cross.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that a monastic tonsure had also been performed at the Protection Monastery in Kryvyi Rih.
