Ministry of Foreign Affairs celebrates iftar as part of Ramadan
The Islamic event in the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was held on Zelensky's initiative.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine held an iftar at the diplomatic academy building – a traditional evening meal during Ramadan. This event is taking place for the second consecutive year as part of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's initiative to mark iftar at the state level.
The event was attended by NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov, spiritual leaders of the Muslim community, people's deputies, as well as ambassadors from Azerbaijan, Albania, Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Libya, Pakistan, Palestine, South Africa, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and several other countries. Before the meal, an imam conducted a Muslim prayer.
The press service statement says that "iftar is an integral part of the sacred month of Ramadan for every Muslim".
"This year we meet Ramadan in even more challenging and turbulent times for the world, including for the Middle East. Ukraine closely monitors developments and expresses solidarity with states and peoples facing the reckless aggression of the Iranian regime," Sybiha stated. He expressed solidarity with Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that, according to Razumkov Center statistics, Muslims in Ukraine account for 0.0%.
