European Parliament hosts gender-identity class for schoolchildren
A session on gender identity was held in the European Parliament building for children aged 12–13 – participation was mandatory, and parents had no option to refuse.
An educational event on gender identity and sex education was held at the European Parliament for 12–13-year-old students of the European School Brussels II. According to media reports, parents had no formal mechanism to opt their children out of taking part, European Conservative reports.
The event, titled Chi ha paura dell'amore? (“Who Is Afraid of Love?”), took place in the European Parliament with the support of Italian MEP Carolina Morace. European politicians, representatives of educational initiatives, and activists participated.
The program included discussions and practical sessions on gender identity, preventing discrimination, and sex education. Schoolchildren took part in workshops featuring role-play exercises and the discussion of bullying cases linked to sexual orientation.
Participants were students from the Italian section of the European School Brussels II, which primarily educates children of employees of European institutions. Some parents voiced concern that such sessions were being conducted without any official way to refuse participation.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that a municipality in Germany had distributed LGBT materials to kindergartens.
