Myltsi Monastery shows pictures of shrine's revival from ruins

Myltsi-based St. Nicholas Monastery of the UOC in Volyn, they published photos taken immediately after the return of the shrine to believers in 1994, as well as modern images from 2026. The photos show the contrast between the destroyed state of the monastery after decades of state use and its current appearance.

During Soviet times, the monastery was taken away from Orthodox Christians and turned into a boarding school. The shrine was in neglect, buildings fell into disrepair, and church premises were disfigured.

In 1994, the monastery was returned to believers and clerics of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The monastery brotherhood began restoration practically from scratch.

The published archival footage shows half-destroyed walls, dilapidated roofs, and traces of economic use. Modern photographs, however, testify to a completely revived monastery where prayer is now performed and monastic obedience is carried out.

Meanwhile, according to the faithful, there are currently statements about the possible transfer of the monastery to the OCU, and attempts to deprive the brethren of their monastery.

As the UOJ reported, MP Huz discussed the seizure of the UOC monastery in Myltsi with the Volyn RMA head.
