Russia’s Old Believers announce a three-day fast in support of "SMO"
The head of the Russian Orthodox Old Believer Church, Metropolitan Korniliy, called for a three-day fast in order to contribute to Russia's victory over its enemies.
On October 22, 2022, the head of the Russian Orthodox Old Believer Church, Metropolitan Korniliy (Titov), called on fellow believers to intensify their prayers and fast for three days for the sake of Russia's victory over external and internal enemies. According to the Interfax news agency, he said this while speaking at the annual Council of the Russian Orthodox Old Believer Church (RPSC).
Metropolitan Korniliy noted that since Russia has entered into a confrontation with "the bearer of the world's evil – the devil", the Russian people need to do everything possible to "overcome the ancient enemy of the human race with the power of the Cross, prayer and fasting".
According to him, “the desire of Orthodox Russia to gain the Kingdom of Heaven has always opposed the earthly spirit of the Catholic-Protestant West, which seeks to build a paradise on earth without God”. However, since the split of the Russian Church in the 17th century, “enlightened” Russian society has adopted the ideology of the West “with its weakened moral principles”, and this process has increased since the 1990s.
