Polish Church discusses prospects for Orthodox religious classes in schools

In Warsaw, representatives of the Polish Orthodox Church and the Ministry of National Education examined the future of Orthodox religious education in schools.

The future of Orthodox religious instruction in Polish schools was discussed amid changes in state education policy. A meeting between representatives of the Polish Orthodox Church and the Ministry of National Education took place on 5 February 2026 in Warsaw, orthodox.pl reported.

At the Orthodox Cultural Center of Saints Cyril and Methodius, the 19th National Conference of methodological advisors and supervisors for Orthodox religious education was held, organized with the blessing of His Beatitude Sawa.

Conference participants reviewed the current state of teaching Orthodox doctrine in schools and catechetical centers, as well as recent decisions by the Ministry of National Education affecting the system of religious instruction.

In the second part of the meeting, inspectors and methodologists from all eparchies of the Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church exchanged practical experience in implementing curricula under the new conditions.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that Poland’s “For Life” movement condemned a European Parliament resolution on abortion.
