Vladimir Legoyda: Sanctions against Patriarch Kirill are political PR
The Chairman of the Synodal Department for the Church's Relations with Society and Media called the requests for sanction pressure on the ROC Primate unsuccessful.
Discussion of sanctions against Patriarch Kirill and other bishops and clerics of the Russian Orthodox Church is a political PR campaign, the sole purpose of which is to create information noise. Chairman of the Synodal Department for Church-Society and Mass Media Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, Vladimir Legoida, wrote about this in his Telegram channel.
"Attempts to exert sanctions pressure on the Primate, as I have already said more than once, are a waste of time. Once again, I would like to point out that the Russian Orthodox Church is not an instrument of political influence, as the Ukrainian ruling authorities imagine," Legoida said.
In addition, the spokesman of the Russian Orthodox Church said that the Church reconciles and unites people, while the actions of the Ukrainian authorities, in his opinion, "are aimed only at exacerbating divisions and enmity between fraternal nations."
As a reminder, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved sanctions against Patriarch Kirill and clergymen of the Russian Orthodox Church.
