Sofroniy Chuprina refuted claims about the necessity of opening the Royal Doors during funeral services.

OCU cleric Sofroniy Chupryna on his Facebook page acknowledged the groundlessness of demands to open the Royal Doors during funeral services. As noted by the Telegram channel koZakTv1, he thus publicly refuted the actions of provocateur Roman Hryshchuk at the funerals of AFU soldiers.

The reason was Hryshchuk's repeated behavior when he, taking advantage of funeral services for military personnel in churches of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, staged emotional scenes, demanding that the rectors open the Royal Doors.

UOC priests refused to violate the statute, after which Hryshchuk resorted to insults and calls for the seizure of churches.

Sofroniy Chupryna clarified that neither the church statute nor the Trebnik – a liturgical book with prayers – contains norms requiring the opening of the Royal Doors during funeral services.

According to him, this is permitted only out of liturgical necessity. "Before God, all are equal, regardless of who is being buried," he noted.

As the UOJ reported, the OCU lied that UOC priests refused to conduct funeral services for a fallen AFU soldier.
