His Beatitude leads Liturgy in Feofania on Venerable Bonifatius feast day

On January 9, 2026, the feast day of Venerable Bonifatius of Feofania, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine presided over the Divine Liturgy at the Panteleimon Women’s Monastery (Feofania). This was reported by the Information and Education Department of the UOC.

Concelebrating with the Primate were Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary, Chancellor of the UOC; Archbishop Serafim of Yahotyn; Archbishop Lavr of Irpin; Archbishop Mark of Borodianka; as well as the monastery’s clergy.

During the Liturgy, prayers were offered for peace on Ukrainian soil, for God’s blessing upon the Ukrainian people, for deliverance from the enemy, and for the defending soldiers. In the course of the service, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry ordained Artemiy Nadvornyi to the diaconate. He will serve at the church of Venerable Theodore the Sanctified in Kyiv.

After the Divine Liturgy, the clergy led by the Primate performed the rite of glorification before the icon of the Nativity of Christ, the icon of Venerable Bonifatius, and the relics of the Apostle Stephen. Following the dismissal, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry blessed the faithful and congratulated the flock on the feast.

Venerable Bonifatius of Feofania was an ascetic of piety and one of Feofania’s spiritual mentors, whose life was bound to prayerful service and the monastic feat. He became known for strict asceticism, humility, and deep faith, as well as for his spiritual care of the brethren and of laypeople who came to him for counsel and consolation. The memory of Venerable Bonifatius is honored in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church as an example of fidelity to Christ, steadfast prayer, and service to the Church.
