Czech bishop receives Drabynko at his residence
In 2019, Bishop Isaija (Slaninka) concelebrated with Dumenko despite a direct prohibition from the Primate of his Church.
Bishop Isaija of Olomouc and Brno (Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia) received “Metropolitan” Alexander Drabynko of the OCU at his residence, the Czech edition of the UOJ reported, citing photographs published online. The meeting took place on December 10.
The meeting in Olomouc occurred one day after Drabynko visited the Orthodox Church of St. Wenceslaus in Brno, where he was received by the parish rector, Raphael of Moravia. In the altar, Drabynko signed the Gospel book lying on the holy table, which caused considerable discussion among the faithful, given the unrecognized status of the OCU.
That same day, Drabynko spoke at the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University, where, at the invitation of the head of the Department of Slavic Studies, Václav Štěpánek, he presented a facsimile edition of the Peresopnytsia Gospel and held a discussion with students.
Recall that in 2019, when he was still a vicar bishop, Isaija concelebrated with “Metropolitan” Epifaniy Dumenko of the OCU, despite a direct prohibition issued by the Primate of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia, His Beatitude Metropolitan Rastislav.
