Shevchuk opposes peace plan and urges not to give up territories
The head of the UGCC believes that the land in Ukraine is sacred and should not be given away.
Head of the UGCC Sviatoslav Shevchuk, speaking at the Uniate Cathedral in Australia, spoke against the peace plan for Ukraine.
"They tell us: give up territories – get peace," Shevchuk stated, expressing doubt that the Russian Federation would agree to this.
According to him, Russia's goal is "the destruction of the Ukrainian people and influencing the mindset of democratic societies to decompose them from within and enslave them».
Therefore, the head of the UGCC spoke in favor of continuing military actions to "stop the aggressor".
He assured that Ukraine is "much more than land resources or minerals, it is a holy place where God is with His people". "It is a place of dignity, heritage, and freedom," Shevchuk stated, emphasizing that emigrants who left the country understand this particularly vividly.
"Your predecessors prayed and fought for a free Ukraine, which we now have, build, and defend on our native land, paying the highest price – the lives and health of the best sons and daughters!" said the head of the UGCC. At the same time, he did not suggest that those present return to the country and defend it with arms.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that, according to Shevchuk, in the war with Russia, Ukraine is clearly winning.
