The UOC hierarch spoke about the impact of fasting on heart health.
On November 28–29, 2025, Metropolitan Augustine of Bila Tserkva and Bohuslav, at the invitation of the organizers, took part in an International Cardiology Conference in Paris. The Information and Education Department of the UOC reported this, citing the press service of the Bila Tserkva Eparchy.
The scientific forum gathered leading cardiologists from various countries to discuss modern approaches to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, as well as prospects for interdisciplinary collaboration.
In his presentation, the hierarch drew attention to the significance of fasting, which has a deep-rooted tradition within the Orthodox Church. He emphasized that fasting is not only a means of spiritual sobriety but also has the potential to positively influence overall physical health. The Metropolitan presented the results of studies conducted under his supervision at the private clinic “Saint Monica” in Bila Tserkva, where 25 individuals participated in the experimental group.
According to the eparchy, the conference participants showed keen interest in the materials presented, noting the importance of continued scientific dialogue between the medical community and the Church.
As the UOJ previously reported, a roundtable on the issues facing the UOC was also held in Paris.
