Metropolitan Ephraim performs monastic tonsure in Kryvyi Rih
The novices of the Protection Convent of the Kryvyi Rih Eparchy were tonsured into the rassophore by Metropolitan Ephraim.
On December 1, 2025, at the Protection Convent in Kryvyi Rih, Metropolitan Ephraim of Kryvyi Rih and Nikopol performed the rite of monastic tonsure for three novices of the Protection women’s monastery, the UOC press service reports.
During the tonsure, the novice Vera received the name Eutropia in honor of the holy martyr Eutropia; Nadiia received the name Epistimia in honor of the martyr Epistimia; and Anna received the name Euphrosyne in honor of Saint Euphrosyne of Alexandria. After the tonsure, the hierarch addressed the newly tonsured sisters with archpastoral counsel and bestowed his blessing on their monastic path.
The event was accompanied by the prayers of the sisters of the convent and the clergy. The diocesan leadership emphasized the importance of preserving monastic traditions in today’s circumstances. Metropolitan Ephraim reminded those present that monastic tonsure marks the beginning of a special Christian way of life dedicated to prayer and service to one’s neighbor.
