The clergyman reminded the public of the persecutions against the Church initiated by Volodymyr Zelensky.

Vadym Novynskyi, a protodeacon of the UOC and former member of parliament, stated that because of the corruption scandal surrounding the “Myndych tapes,” Zelensky can no longer remain President of Ukraine.

“He has lost the moral right to serve as head of state and Supreme Commander-in-Chief. At a time when soldiers and civilians are dying in the war, he and his team, as it turns out, were engaged in blatant looting,” the clergyman said.

The protodeacon stressed that under Zelensky’s leadership the rights and freedoms of citizens were systematically violated, and that a campaign of persecution was carried out against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

According to him, “the cleansing must begin with Zelensky’s own resignation,” and responsibility for the situation in the country should be assumed by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, which should elect a new parliamentary leadership.

“I am confident – the Verkhovna Rada will be capable of initiating negotiations on peace and the cessation of hostilities,” the protodeacon said.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that, according to Fr. Vadym Novynskyi, the authorities are deliberately mobilizing priests in order to destroy the UOC.
